False. The Codelco–SQM partnership has made it mandatory to carry out a permanent dialogue process with Atacameño communities in the Atacama Salt Flat basin, with the aim of co-creating a governance model for a long-term socio-environmental relationship that meets the highest standards. It also includes funds for health, education, employment, culture, and local development.

This mandate has been fully embraced by both companies during 2024, with over 40 meetings held with Indigenous organizations in the Atacama Salt Flat. These meetings have served to explain the agreement, collect feedback, and invite communities to co-design a governance model that effectively incorporates the perspectives and visions of the Lickanantay people in decision-making processes of the new company.

The governance model — based on principles of interculturality, integrity, differentiated participation, transparency, and excellence — will ensure compliance with ILO Convention 169 and other international human rights treaties for Indigenous peoples.

This promotes a relationship of mutual respect and collaboration, strengthening sustainable development and community well-being — an unprecedented model in Chile.
